No, she was saying it to her biking buddy. And by the tone, I'm pretty sure she wasn't being serious, either.

*old woman gestering at a mother trying to amuse her baby whilst waiting for a doctors appointment*

"*loud tut* it's this new thing, they've gone and taken all the childrens toys out of doctors waiting rooms, because some people in brussles* say they spread infections! for goodness sake"

...even outside of the fact that these kind of stories about brussles are almost always arse anyway, there was quite clearly a kids play table in the corner of the room.

*said with as much contempt as she would muster.

conversation overheard between wife and husband (i think?) as they browsed through discounted halloween decorations at local store:

husband (picking up plastic skeleton): "hey-katie could use this to learn all of the bones for her class!"

wife (with exasperated sigh and rolling of eyes): "yeah, but that's not exactly anatomically correct.."

"Overheard" (in the figurative sense) on the PostSecret forum:

Person #1: I have been a card carrying nudist for 25 years.

Person #2: Where do you carry the card ?!?

So I was walking through the densely populated party bedlam called Isla Vista with some friends tonight and we overhear some girl scream "I AM NOT A WHORE!" We look up and see in the orange-lit doorway of an apartment a female silhouette grabbing another, unidentifiable silhouette by the head and slamming this person's head repeatedly against the door. We hear three meaty whacks and then she yells, "THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CALL ME ONE," or something, and another girl comes up from behind the so-called whore and tries to restrain her, and a full-on catfight ensues. A small crowd forms on the street and watches for a few wild minutes until someone, either the namecaller or the namecalled, is shut out altogether.

Does it count as "overheard" when it's something you read online? In this case, probably not since it wouldn't be as funny heard out loud, but anyway. Today while sitting bored on the computer waiting for a call back on my oven repair, I read some blog post about how Leona Lewis is defending her boyfriend's job to the press (he's an electrician, apparently), and although there wasn't anything interesting or funny about the article, I had to laugh at this guys comment:

The only job a man would have that a woman shouldn't try to defend is a gigolo. That, and maybe a chip and dale dancer.
