He's a drummer? But he already has Joey Waronker? Why does he need two drummers?
I gues extra percussionists isn't that bad. I can see how it would help with some of the Eraser stuff at least.
After getting over the shock, I think this is going to sound cool. I am especially excited that my old buddy Rich got tickets and will no doubt hook a brother up.
I'm going to Arizona for a bit next month, so that makes LA just a gross Greyhound bus ride away.
And Amy, why did you think of David Byrne?
Actually, now that I typed that I can think up several similarities. |

i didn't think of him, mauro refosco is a musician he uses quite a lot apparently, his name was bought up in the report of the gigs i heard. _________________

Yeah, I read that later. I was through Byrne that Thom met this guy.
This is going to sound pretty cool, I think.
Was that bassline in 'Harrowdown Hill' not meant for Flea to play in the grand scheme of things? |

ok, so he's just done at least two, possibly three gigs with flea and co, played the whole of the eraser live, and debuted a handful of new/newish songs. it's too much. i can't link you to it all. so just watch this.

I finally found a good bootleg.
Listening to this is fascinating. There is very little embellishment. It is just like how Thom recorded it.
But so much better because of the lack of preprogramed music. There might be some there still, so maybe I am making the wrong point. But the keys and drums and drums and bass and vocals — I think Thom sounds great here — add up to something much more immediate and awesome than The Eraser.
I love it when Thom encourages people to dance. The thing is, you would have to be a good dancer to dance to his beats. He's all about the twisted cadence and such. But live you can find a groove. I was never keen on 'Skipped Divided', but the bootleg is incredibly sexy and a little tribal. It's hot.
'Cymbal Rush' is another that benefits greatly from these performers, who give much more life to the closer. I know Radiohead has performed this, but I don't remember it sounding this good. What a jam!
What do you all think of the new songs?
I was real surprised at how much I enjoyed this. And how good Thom sounded.

Yes but is it good enough to REPLACE RADIOHEAD?
I'm downloading right now. |
